TREATMENT CARRIED OUT

• The small tear in the area of the hat of the left figure was repaired and patched (lightweight polyester and Beva Film, nap bond).
  
• The surface dirt and discoloured varnish was removed following tests.
  
• The back was cleaned and the keys were secured.
  
• An isolating conservation varnish was applied.
  
• Losses were filled, textured and sealed.
  
• In-painting was carried out.
  
• A final varnish was applied.
  
• The painting re-secured in the frame using flexible brass plates.
